DEHUMIDIFIER BUYING GUIDE

How much does a dehumidifier cost to run?

Use the machine’s power, hours of use and your electricity unit rate. The result is an estimate, not a promised bill.

The calculation

Watts ÷ 1,000 × hours × electricity price per kWh gives the energy cost. Use the unit rate on your own bill. The standing charge is not an extra charge created by using the machine.

Enter your power, hours of use and electricity rate.

Use the power for your machine’s chosen mode and the unit rate on your electricity bill.

Why your actual bill can differ

This calculation assumes constant power for every hour entered. A humidity control may stop the machine when it reaches its target. Different modes and room conditions can change power use and how long the machine runs. Measuring energy used across your normal routine gives a more useful result than treating the model’s headline rating as constant.

Compare the same conditions

Published figures are only comparable when their conditions and modes match. Meaco lists 207W for its Arete Two 20L at 20°C and 60% relative humidity. That does not establish its consumption for every setting in every home.

For the Pro Breeze OmniDry 12L, the checked listing’s energy wording did not give us a clear enough basis for an equivalent comparison. We leave that value out rather than turn it into a precise-looking cost.

Purchase price is only one part

When two models fit your room, weigh the upfront price alongside likely use, accessories and convenience. A lower hourly estimate alone does not prove a lower cost per load of washing or a faster drying time. We have not run a controlled drying test.
